The Glen Rose School District would like to make you aware of a ballot issue on the upcoming March 3 election. You will see an item on the ballot listed as 38.2 Mill School Tax for the Glen Rose School District. It is very important that you know this does not raise your millage. After the initial bond issue we already have expires, Glen Rose will lose these funds.
However, passing this extension will allow the present bond to lengthen the time taxes are collected. This total proposed school tax levy of 38.2 mills represents the same rate currently collected. We have received a school improvement grant from the facilities division of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. In order to receive and use the grant, we have to have matching funds.
If this issue is approved the matching funds needed to complete capital improvements for elementary will be available. These improvements will include upgrading the electrical system, replacing heating and air conditioning units with more efficient units, and other suggested improvements as the budget allows.
